On the evening of June 10, a series of DSE college‑admission lectures organized by Le Cordon Bleu Education was successfully held at Kuangyuan Bilingual School in Wuxi.

This lecture is themed “Understanding Hong Kong: Legal Studies at the University of Hong Kong and Future Career Paths,” and features a special invitation to… Mr. Adrian, a 2026 graduate of the University of Hong Kong with degrees in Business Administration (Law) and Law. Upon arriving at the school, I engaged in face-to-face discussions with students from the DSE program, sharing my academic journey at the University of Hong Kong and my insights into the field of law.

In addition to the students attending in person, other DSE partner schools also participated in the lecture simultaneously via online platforms.

Through the firsthand accounts of senior students from the University of Hong Kong, students gained a more concrete understanding of the legal profession and deeper reflections on their future academic paths.

At the outset of the lecture, Mr. Adrian engaged the students through several real-life examples.

These seemingly ordinary everyday scenes quickly sparked the students’ interest. At times, students raised their hands to answer, while others exchanged their thoughts with classmates nearby.

Subsequently, Mr. Adrian, drawing on the distinctive features of Hong Kong’s common law system, used landmark cases to illustrate the analytical mindset employed by legal professionals in addressing complex issues.

From making factual judgments to engaging in logical reasoning and applying legal principles, students have come to realize that studying law is not merely about memorizing statutes; it is, above all, a process of cultivating the ability to think critically and solve problems.

An Introduction to the Legal Profession

When discussing future development, Mr. Adrian also outlined the various career paths available in Hong Kong’s legal profession, including solicitors, barristers, corporate counsel, and government lawyers.

Many students once believed that, upon graduating with a law degree, the only career path was to become a lawyer. During the interactive Q&A session, students enthusiastically posed questions about major selection, university life, and their future career prospects.

In response to widespread interest in “which types of students are best suited to study law,” Mr. Adrian offered his advice.

He stated, The legal profession places high demands on English reading and writing skills; therefore, a solid foundation in English is especially important.

At the same time, law is by no means a field reserved exclusively for humanities majors.

Students with a science background They also excel in logical analysis and structured thinking. By maintaining a reading habit, staying engaged with social issues, and continually honing their communication skills, they can achieve strong progress in their legal studies.
